A huge part of learning to love fitness is learning to love the things that you dread. The same goes for healthy eating – you have to train your body to crave clean, healthy foods. Going from a diet steady in fast food to a diet heavy in plants was no easy task. But it’s so very worth it.
The point at which I started to actually crave exercise and vegetables rather than dread them was the point at which my “diet” became a healthy lifestyle. Sure, I do it to be healthy. But I also do it because I love it.
Years ago, I would absolutely dread a planned treadmill session. These days, it’s my stress relief, my refuge, and my hobby. Fitness is a huge part of my life and it always will be.
Years ago, I would have chosen greasy pizza over a bowl of roasted veggies any day. These days, I have both. Pizza in moderation, veggies in bulk.
This certainly didn’t happen overnight. And to this day, I still dread or dislike certain things. I always thought that I loved all forms of fitness – get me sweating and we’ll be friends. But as I found out last week, that’s not the case.
So, check it out – learning to love the things that you dread.
