I am just now (Monday morning – 11AM) opening my laptop for the first time since Thursday. Boy oh boy, did it feel good to unplug for a few days.
Yes, I slacked on Sweat it Out Saturday. Despite that, I had a very active weekend. I hope that you did as well!
Let’s rewind and recap a little. Shall we?
On Thursday, I attended my first MPA (Midwestern Psychological Association) conference where I presented the research I have been talking about for so long.
I will no longer be collecting data for this particular study and I am kind of sad to see it end after investing so much time into it. Onto bigger things I suppose.
After the conference, we ate at a new-to-me place called Native Foods Café. The restaurant is all-vegan and the menu is amazing.
It was SO hard to choose just one meal. It was also pretty great to be able to browse (and choose from) the entire menu rather than just from a special vegetarian section.
I ended up ordering the twister wrap with a side of sweet potato fries and lavender lemonade.
[Looks like chicken, but it’s vegan!]
I have been dreaming about that lavender lemonade ever since my first sip. Seriously, I must recreate it. Now, where would I go about purchasing lavender?
Fun fact: I was with several meat-eaters at Native Foods and they all loved their vegan meals!
I love showing people how amazing vegan/vegetarian dining can be—so thanks to Native Foods for blowing our minds with delicious vegan eats.
I also learned a huge lesson on that day—never wear heels to a conference. Even heels that you’ve deemed sensible and comfortable. I almost didn’t make it back to the car after eating. I’ll admit it—I chose fashion over function and it was a bad idea. Really bad.
When I arrived home that night, I had the world’s best package awaiting on my doorstep.
I’m not ashamed to say that 3/4 of this bag of cocoa goodness is now gone. It is that good.
Over the weekend, I packed in quite a bit of fun. I went on not one, not two, but three leisurely walks with my Mom and our pup.
I also ate the largest cup of frozen yogurt of my life. White cake batter, dulce de leche, and cookies and cream topped with fruit, mochi, and graham cracker crumbles. Worth every last calorie.
[I spy the cutest Love Grown notebook.]
And finally, I got completely sucked in to my most recent read (50 Shades of Grey).
You guys were right—I can’t put it down! It’s safe to say that I’ll be reading the whole trilogy!
So, I’ve done three of the five things that I wanted to add in during the month of May.
That’s what I would call a successful weekend.
